Scene one:

Lucy is sitting in reception she looks beside her and spots Joe. She stares at him for a second before starting to stare out of the window beside.

Lucy:
(sigh)

Joe comes into shot and the camera starts to follow him as he walks down the corridor. As the camera follows him it stops and concentrates on the people that pass him. A narrator’s voice then says different unusual details about each person.

The camera then carry’s on following Joe to the room into the room in which he keeps his things in.

Scene two:

The janitor is in his room.
He bends down to pick up a mop that has fallen down the floor. As he gets up he props the mop up against the wall. Once he is stood upright he is standing in front of a mirror that hangs on the wall. He stares into it for a minute before slowly turning to the wall next the mirror.
The camera focus’s on the wall as if looking from his point of view. The wall is full of pictures of Lucy.
Joe reaches out and strokes the face on one of the pictures and smiles creepily.
He is then hit on the head with a hammer and the camera focuses on blood that trickles down the side of his face.
Joe then falls to the floor and a puddle of blood appears beside and under his head.
(The camera does not show who hit him only what his facial expressions are)
The camera then shows the killers black gloves with the hammer in his hands and a cloth. He wipes the hammer clean of blood and places it on the table next to him.
The camera catches the back of him as he walks out of the room and he leaves the door slightly open.

Scene three:

Lucy gets up from the seat she is sitting in. and walks down the corridor, as she does she walks past the room in which Joe is in. she notices that the door is open.
She stops and hesitates for a moment before knocking gently on the door.

Lucy:
hello. . . . . Is anyone there?

Lucy reaches out and opens the door fully. The room is dark as she walks in she stumbles slightly over Joe’s dead body on the floor. She does not realise that it is Joe because the room is too dark for her to see. She finds the light switch and the light comes on.
She slowly looks down on the floor and notices Joe’s dead body on the floor

lucy:
(loud scream)
Somebody help, please”

She stands up and slowly looks at the wall still shouting for help. She spots the pictures on the wall and stops shouting.
The camera focuses on her confused facial expressions. She slowly backs backwards, and hand then reaches out and taps her on the shoulder. She jumps round in surprise.

Teacher:
comes with me please

(The teacher then looks at the wall and looks at Lucy.)

Teacher:
did you know anything about this?

Lucy shakes her head and mutters;

Lucy:
no…no! ive never seen them before i promise
Scene four

Lucy opens her eyes. She is in a dark room. She tries to move and realises that she is tied up to the chair that she is sitting on.

Lucy:

Help….. I’m trapped help!

She hears a movement at the back of her

boy one:

No- one can hear you Lucy. . . . Where all alone

Lucy:

Who are you and what do you want?

The guy is moving slowly around the back of her. You can not see him but just hear his movement. The camera is focusing on Lucy’s face. She is confused and upset.

Boy one:

You know what I wont Lucy. . . . I want to get you back for what you done!

Lucy:

I don’t understand. . . . What have I done wrong?

Boy one:

I helped you Lucy, I done you a favour . . . and then you go and rat on me. . . . Why Lucy? WHY DID YOU DO IT!

Lucy:

You’re talking about Joe aren’t you; you can’t go around killing people . . . its sick its wrong!

Boy one:

He was talking pictures of you. He’s the sick one he deserved it, watching him suffer was the best moment in my life!

Lucy:

You disgust me, yes he took pictures of me, but that could have been dealt with another way. But no you took it over board and went and killed him. There was no need for it!

Boy one:

Well Lucy I weren’t letting him get away with it. . . .

(He pauses for a moment, then sighs)

And neither are you!

The room goes dark; you hear a rustle and then a slight whimper.

Scene five

Lucy turns her head and jumps in surprise. She looks around her. The scene is just like at the start however instead of focusing on Joe the camera is focused on Lucy. She is looking around her and panting franticly. In the background you see Joe walking down the corridor and the same people walk past him as before. However the camera is still focused on Lucy. She is still looking around her as she see Joe go down the corridor. As she is watching him a tear falls from her eye. She knows that the day dream she has just had is about to happen but this time its real!

anaysis of the script for fargo

There was one scene in the script that was deleted at the beginning of the film. There are no more changes to the script so when you read the script it does tell you exactly what you are going to see in the film. The film is a bit different because you get to see the surroundings and what they really look like and whether the way they talk to script suits the character on the scene.

The name of the first character is Jerry. He is a very quiet and hesitant person. He likes to keep his personal life to himself. The word that he uses the most are “uh”, he also pauses and stutters a lot. The character is both antagonist and protagonist because he is setting up his wife to be kidnapped; however he is doing it because he needs the money. The script shows us that he is planning to kidnap his wife because Carl says it and they are talking about how much money they will receive if the make a ransom for her to be released from being kidnapped.

The next character is Carl. He is seems like the “hard man” and very aggressive type. This is because he uses bad language and is very forward and pushy to get things that he wants. He uses the word man a lot and the word “fuck it” which shows that he is very adamant to get what he wants there and then. He is the antagonist because he is doing the kidnapping and is doing it for money.

The last character is Grimsrud. He seems like the sidekick of Carl. He doesn’t talk a lot in the script and the film, however when he does he uses bad language. This shows that he too is a bad man. You don’t find out a lot about him but you know that he must be the antagonist of the film because he is with Carl and must be part of the plan for kidnapping Jerry’s wife.

what a triller is

A thriller is a type of film that keeps the viewer on the edge of their seats with anticipation throughout the film. It has soundtracks that are upbeat or fast so that it helps keep the tension. The lighting is usually dim so that it creates a mysterious setting.

The definition of a thriller is:
“Something that thrills, especially a suspenseful, sensational genre of story, book, play or film”

Thrillers usually contains a “villain” who has had trouble in their past to make them so horrible. The “villain” usually goes around causing trouble for people and sometimes even kills them. There is also a “hero” who saves the people being tormented by the “villain” and usually gets rid of the “villain”. This sounds a lot like comic book stories and in a way it is. Most of the “heroes” and “villain” are played by men and the women are the people being rescued. However in the more modern film the prospective is being changed and more “villain” are being played for women.

The difference between horror and thriller is that horror contains more gory scenes and the “villain” doesn’t always have a motive of why he is like he is. Horrors can also contain things such as monsters, vampires and the un-dead. Also some thrillers have a twist to the end for example, in “the others” the main characters think they are being haunted and it turns out that it’s them who are haunting the owners of their old house. However thrillers don’t always have ghosts and killers in them. A film can be classed as a Thriller even if it doesn’t contain ghosts and killers. “2 fast 2 furious” is a thriller because it contains the anticipation and does contain a “bad guy” or a “villain” in it.
